Whoever Heard of Such a Thing

The Story of the Story

I wrote this book, many years ago as a teenager. My sister Betsy, the illustrator, was a pre-adolescent. We found refuge from our less than ideal childhood in books and our imagination, especially during the summer months.

At the end of the summer, I wrapped and stored the book among my precious possessions where it remained for many years. Five years ago, I shared the book with a computer savvy friend who suggested that I scan and print the book.

Following that simple suggestion proved to be an exercise in imagination and grit. After more than a year, with the help of a graphic artist, I was able to self publish my book. In many ways the path to publication was the final act of imagination in the book.

Claudia Campbell is an author: "Whoever heard of such a thing?"

Book mechanics
The original book reused an old blue spiral notebook to create the cover and binding for the book. Large block style red and black self-adhesive letters provided the “type” for the text in the book. We used crayons and colored pencils, in coloring book style for the Illustrations.
The Story
A fun, read-aloud book for the young child. A book that invites the child’s participation and engages the young imagination. Whimsical, imaginative questions answered in witty and charming drawings in a coloring book style. A joy for adult and child alike.
